ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered January 8 statement in Mbombela, Mpumalanga
Mbombela- The African National Congress (ANC) held its January 8 statement celebration in Mbombela stadium, Mpumalanga. This year, the ANC turn 112 years since its formation in 1912. President Cyril Ramaphosa delivered January 8 statement celebration in Mbombela stadium. He acknowledged that the party has made a lot of mistakes, but added that such mistakes can be corrected.
Gwede Manteshe, is the party’s National Chairperson, said regardless of its problems the ANC still managed to fill-up the Mbombela stadium. Ramaphosa said, this year makes more than 112 years of the formation of People’s Liberation Movement the ANC. “We are here to celebrate the past and future, and outline our plan. We know the world is facing many economic challenges and global political instability and conflicts”, he said.
Ramaphosa addressed what he calls five raw categories, the transformation of constitution, expansion of basic infrastructure, the launch of economic policies, the establishment of democratic institutions and the advancement of peaceful world.
Ramaphosa stated that, 45% of parliamentarians are women. “We must ensure moving forward that we have 50% of women in parliament, women were oppressed because they are women special black women”, he said.
Empowering young people have been part of what South Africa it is today. ” We have to empower them, they are visible in every sector of our society. Our country will continue to rely on our young people. In 1976 the were in for front to lead the struggle”, added Ramaphosa.
Ramaphosa did not missed an opportunity to comment about South Africa- Israel genocidal case. He said, the country was proud of Minister Ronald Lamola who led South Africa and its legal team to the Hague to prevent Israel for committing genocide against Palestinian people.
Today, people around the world stand with Palestine, and the ANC has stood firmly with people of Palestine. He quoted a speech by Nelson Mandela, “but we know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians”.
Ramaphosa urge the private sector to make sure that women are employed and young people must be employ without looking at the level of experience. And ensure that those who are beyond age of 35 are employed too, he said.
He further stated that in order to resolve the question of electricity, Eskom must increase the level of electricity capacity. The president speech was more of a campaign than a usual January 8 statement he delivered in previous years. He said, some people are saying ANC will get 30% or 50%, “we will surprise them the ANC will wine with overwhelming majority”.
Not mentioning the mame of former President Jacob Zuma, on his open address when he was greeting members of MK veterans. He said, this is the real MK not the other one. Currently former President Zuma joined a newly for MK party which the ANC is in dispute with its name, it has many times stated that the name belongs to its military veterans. ” All these parties that are started, there are being used to destroy and weaken the ANC, come the election day we will show them”.
