The UN Special Rapporteur has confirmed Israel has violated international law in Palestine by its continues bombardment in Gaza strip which up to so far has killed more than 23, 000 people in the strip.
Briefing the media in Madrid, Francesca Albanese said, “Israel has done a number of things that are largely illegal”. Albanese was referring to Israel’s bombardment on Gaza and the killing of innocence civilians which includes women and children.

She said, “international humanitarian law must be respected to protect people not participating in combat- civilians, prisoners of war, the sick and the wounded”. She added by saying, this means distinguishing between combatants and civilians, and ensuring that military attacks are proportionate to avoid excessive harm to civilians. Instead, what happened was more than l00 days of heavy bombing. In the first two weeks, 6, 000 bombs were Used weekly, bombs each weighing 2, 000 pounds, in very crowded areas” She concluded.
The statement by UN Special Rapporteur can be used by South Africa to support its claim to the International Court of Justice that Israel is committing genocidal war crimes in Gaza as it alleged.
