The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has today, 26, Friday, delivered a landmark judgment in South Africa- Israel genocidal case. The case is brought by South Africa, on an urgent basis, seeking the court to issue a provisional order against Israel to cease fire against the Palestinian people. So far about 26, 000 are recorded to have been killed.
Judge Joan Donohue noted the ICJ has jurisdiction to rule over emergency measures in the South Africa genocide case against Israel. Donoghue says the ICJ is actually aware of the extent of the human tragedy unfolding in the region and is deeply concerned about the continuing loss of life and human suffering.

She stated, “Some allegations against Israel fall within the provisions of the genocide convention and Palestinians appear to be a protected group under the convention”. The court noted that the ICJ has Jurisdiction to rule over emergency measures in the South Africa genocide case against Israel.

- Israel must prevent the direct punishment and incitement of genocide in Gaza.
- Israel is ordered to report to the court within a month on what it is doing to uphold the order to take measures within its powers to prevent acts of genocide.
- Hamas must release the captives.
The court did not order a cease-fire but ordered Israel to prevent the genocidal act and allow the humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.
