(The Post News)- The President of Namibia Hage Geingob has died on Sunday morning in hospital in the Namibian capital Windhoek. He died at the age of 82. He left two children, a daughter and son. And, his wife Monica Kalondo. Geingob was first elected in office in 2014.
He revealed that he was receiving treatment for cancer in January this year. He served as President of the ruling party SWAPO from 2017 up to his death.
On a Facebook statement, acting President Nangolo Mbumba, said, “the Namibian nation has lost a distinguished servant of the people, a liberation struggle icon, the chief architect of our constitution and the pillar of the Nambian house”.
“At this moment of deepest sorrow, I appeal to the nation to remain calm and collected while the government attends to all necessary state arrangements, preparations and other protocols. Further announcements in this regard will be made”, said acting President Mbumba.
