South African Police Service (SAPS) seized counterfeit goods worth over R8 million and arrested 12 undocumented suspects during an integrated take down operation in Pretoria, Marabastad on Tuesday.
In a media released statement, the police said the National Counterfeit Unit led a team comprising of police members from various specialised units, officials from the Department of Home Affairs (DHA), South African Revenue Services (SARS), Brand Protectors and security officers during the operation.

“The operation resulted in the seizure of various counterfeit items such as clothing apparels, shoes, caps and bags”. police added.

“Just two weeks ago, the team also seized counterfeit goods to the value of R13 million during a take-down operation in the Johannesburg CBD”.
