MTV Base presenter Shamiso Mosaka sent shockwaves through social media when she shared her harrowing encounter aboard a Fly CemAir flight in Durban on March 17, 2024, via Instagram Live. Viewers were shocked to watch Mosaka being thrown off the flight for allegedly using profanity while on a call with a friend.
A screen recording of the video making rounds on social media shows Mosaka sitting down and telling a member of the SAPS that she refuses to leave the plane until they book her another flight. She further accused the flight attendant of escalating the issue of being racist.
Two witnesses have stepped forward to support Mosaka, recounting their firsthand experiences on the flight. A passenger named Petoho L took to the South African online review platform Hello Peter and shared that the air hostess’s name was Shamika. “When we tried to voice out what had happened, we were also threatened to be thrown off the flight too,” Petoho added.
X user @DaButchstar identified himself as the passenger sitting in front of Shamiso. He posted, “Please if you ever need witnesses I am available. We fought even after they tricked you out of the flight. We were also threatened to be thrown out the cause of sticking out for you.”
Another X user took it upon themselves to uncover the flight attendant’s identity as Shadé Gopie. Many criticized her and the airline and flooded their social media accounts with messages of disapproval.
Mosaka has not provided an update since being escorted off of the plane.
