(The Post News) – Discover the latest breakthrough in brain imaging with the amazing Iseult MRI machine, created by France’s Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in Plateau de Saclay. It’s the first machine to capture images of the human brain, showing its structure and activity. The goal of the Iseult project has always been to design the best MRI machine to help us understand more about how the brain works. With its super clear pictures, this machine is a game-changer for doctors and scientists, giving them a better view of the brain. Get ready to explore the secrets of the brain like never before with the incredible Iseult MRI machine!
In 2021, the machine debuted by scanning a pumpkin. However, this year, health authorities approved human scans. The MRI machine delivered astonishing images of human brain anatomy as part of the Iseult project. As reported by healthcare-in-Europe.com, it took merely four minutes to capture remarkable brain images. Boasting specifications that make it the world’s most powerful MRI scanner, it operates at an impressive 11.7 Tesla magnetic field intensity.
According to healthcare-in-europe.com, the impressive resolution of the revealed images under four minutes is 0.2 mm in plane resolution and 1 mm in slice thickness, which represents volume equivalent to a few thousand neurons. It would take hours to acquire the same image quality from a plane.
The powerful MRI machine has a positive impact on the medical and research worlds. It enables them to acquire data that has been unattainable about the human brain, how it functions, and how certain connections are associated with the state of consciousness. The world cannot deny that the invention of this machine and the details it provides will have a great impact on medical research.
“With this machine, we can see the tiny vessels that fed the cerebral cortex or the details of the cerebellum that were invisible until now, said Alexandre Vignaud. The MRI machine gives hope to researchers about the enlightenment of diseases such as Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s, or mental illnesses like schizophrenia and depression. According to CEA researcher Anne-Isabelle Entienvre, if they could all understand these very harmful diseases, they should be able to diagnose them earlier and therefore treat them better.
Unfortunately, regular people won’t have access to this powerful innovation that can provide a glimpse inside their brains. However, this machine isn’t intended to be used as a clinical diagnostic tool. Instead, the information gathered from it will be utilized in hospitals to treat patients.
