(The Post News)– The 24-year-old Fluke Fleurs was shot at a petrol station in the Honeydew suburb of Johannesburg on April 3rd. While waiting to be attended to by a petrol attendant, two armed men hijacked him at gunpoint, driving a white BMW 1 Series. The police announced the breakthrough in a statement.
The news announcement states that Fleur’s car was found, and six people were taken into custody by the squad led by Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, the Gauteng Provincial Commissioner, to find and apprehend the suspected hijackers and killers of the Kaizer Chiefs player. The car that had already been stripped was found on Monday, but the suspects were located and taken into custody in Slovoville, Soweto, early on Wednesday.
The search for other suspects is ongoing, as police think the individuals are members of a network behind an auto hijacking in Gauteng. The Gauteng Deputy Provincial Commissioner of Crime Detection, Major General Mbuso Khumalo, leads a team that includes the SAPS Provincial Investigation Unit, the tracking team, and the SAPS National Crime Intelligence, SAPS Drone Unit, Honeydew Detectives, Crime Intelligence, CAP Special Operations, and Fidelity Specialized Services. The arrested suspects appeared in Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday, April 12, 2024.
The case was postponed to be heard again in May. A legal representative read a bail plea to the court on behalf of three of the accused, saying, “I respectfully point out that I do not have a history of violence, and it would be out of my character for me to attempt to intimidate or adversely influence witnesses. I undertake to abide by any condition prohibiting contact with state witnesses, ”as reported by Independent Online (IOL).
