Picture courtesy: (Getty) Authorities have begun a formal inquiry to determine where the ketamine, a drug found to be associated with the death of actor Matthew Perry, came from.
(The Post Mews)– The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) is looking into the cause of Oconic actor, Williams Perry’s death and the source of the ketamine that was used at his funeral.
On October 28, 2023, Perry, a well-liked character in both American and Canadian entertainment, was discovered dead in the pool of his Pacific Palisades home.
The goal of the current investigation, which is being carried out in collaboration with the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the US Postal Inspection Service, is to identify the source and distribution system of the ketamine that caused Perry’s death, according to LAPD Capt. Scot Williams.
In the postmortem report from the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s Office, the actor, who was 54 years old, died from “acute effects of ketamine” and drowning.
Given Perry’s prominent position in the entertainment business, the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division was in charge of the initial investigation.
Capt. Williams confirmed that the investigation continued, stressing the criminal nature of the killing, even after the autopsy report was made public in December and provided insight into the cause of death. The primary goal is still to track down the people responsible for the illegal substance’s supply and trace its supply chain.
Although the police have not released any specific information about the investigation, it is clear that criminal culpability is a possibility until more information is made public.
DEA spokespeople referred questions to the LAPD and declined to comment on the current investigation.
Perry reportedly used Ketamine Infusion Therapy to treat his anxiety and despair, according to the postmortem report.
The report’s timeframe, however, raises doubts whether the drug was still in his blood when he passed away because it appears that his final known treatment was given much before he passed away.
Over the course of his remarkable career, which spanned decades, Perry gave outstanding performances in both films and television shows.
His depiction of Chandler Bing won him over to fans all over the world and cemented his place as a leading character in the annals of entertainment history.
