(The Post News)– TS Galaxy Football Club hosted Mamelodi Sundowns last Tuesday at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. The team managers’, Sead Ramovic and Rhulani Mokoena, had been exchanging words on social media. Their beef seems to have expanded as rivalry between their clubs.
Despite everything that has been happening on social media, Yesterday, the teams met for round 20 of the DStv Premiership League at the home of the Rockets. The Rockets outclassed Sundowns’ expectations by causing a late upset, taking the lead through Puso Dithejane, who scored the first goal in 78 minutes of the game.
Galaxy looked on track; however, The Sky Is The Limit fought hard to get back to the game. Fortunately, they got an equaliser seven minutes after the goal and four minutes before the end of the game.
A game at hand for the two clubs had ended in a 1-1 draw, and neither of the managers shook hands at the end of the game.
Due to the strong tension that ensued and had been showing during the game, the tension involved the bench, backroom staff, players, and other officials.
The police had to intervene and calm the situation before the football field became a battleground as the love of football nearly turned into a physical fight.
The beef might be caused by how Sundowns handled a situation when Bongani Zungu broke Bernard Parker’s leg last October during the Telkom Knockout Cup last 16. Since that day, the club coaches have been bitter towards one another.
Ramovic told SuperSport TV, “I think we dominated the game; we outclassed them. We just believed in how we played, and we should have won, but in my heart, we won the game. Because we showed we cannot just win with million-dollar players, we can also win with a million-dollar attitude like theirs, so I have to give a lot of credit to my players.”
“My advice is maybe he should buy Mbappe, Ronaldo, or Messi so that he can beat us maybe next time,” added Ramovic.
Soccer Bullet on Facebook reports that Rhulani stated that he does not enjoy playing against the TS Galaxy because it is always torture whenever he faces them. “I don’t like that; I am not involved in football for that. I love football for friendship, for memories, for the purity of the game, and for the joy it brings to people,” said Rhulani.
Fans of football on social media have highlighted that the beef between the two won’t end well, and we might see blood someday.
However, TS Galaxy boss Tim Sukazi said that South Africa should be happy that they have found another rivalry besides the Soweto derby.
“There is no bad blood between us and Sundowns, and it will never be, I promise you. I have contributed a lot to project Sundowns personally, and I have achieved many things with Sundowns that many won’t know. Even if I wanted bad blood, it wouldn’t happen,” concluded Tim in a post-match interview.
Sundowns is still dominating the league, and TS Galaxy is in the top 4, holding the fourth position while Sundowns holds the 1st.
