(The Post News)– The Broward County Sheriff’s Office released a statement on Thursday night, May 23, stating that 34-year-old Sean Kingston was taken into custody in Fort Irwin, CA, on a BSO warrant for numerous fraud and theft charges.
The arrest warrants came after the authorities raided his South Florida mansion.
Sean Kingston has been well known in the music industry since his debut in 2007 when he released the singles Beautiful Girls, Fire Burning, and Eenie Meeni.
He’s previously teamed up with stars like Justin Bieber and Soulja Boy.
According to the court filings from February 2024, the Jamaican-American musical artist stayed at the property which was raided. Although the county records search indicates that the home belongs to a limited liability company, Kingston, who was renting the mansion, was charged with not paying the remaining amount to VER VER Entertainment on a $150,000 entertainment system that included a 232-inch television.
According to the complaint, Kingston convinced the company to take a small down payment and credit towards the purchase by arguing that he would produce promotional videos for the company with Justin Bieber.
He’s got essentially a script, which indicates that he worked with Justin Bieber and that, without a doubt, the show was a big success.
Attorney Dennis Card, whose Kingston attorney argued that the raid was related to a lawsuit accusing Kingston of not paying for purchased items, was seen in a picture on a 232-inch TV that Kingston had seen on social media posts.
“Kingston has a $150,000 television sound system, including $1 million worth of watches in there. There’s also an $80,000 custom bed. However, the house is a rental house; he doesn’t own it,” said Card.
After an investigation that recently took place in Dania Beach, BSO’s Dania Beach District deputies, along with members of BSO’s Strategic Investigations Unit and Davie Police SWAT, served arrest and search warrants at the home.
The outcome of the search warrants led to Kingston’s mother, Janice Turner, ages 61, also being arrested on numerous fraud and theft charges.
Kingston’s mother was also taken into custody on Thursday. She was also accused of fraud charges at the artist’s Southwest Ranches home, a Broward County community located 22 miles northwest of Miami.
This is just one of Sean Kingston’s legal troubles. In 2021, music video producer GODLIKE accused Kingston of punching him in the face and pointing a gun at him.
Kingston has rejected the allegations levelled allegations against him.
He remains in custody and will be placed in jail in San Bernardino, California. The authorities have not revealed any further details relating to his arrest. However, the investigation is underway
