Students get stationary from IFP youth wing during their students exams at UniZulu.
(The Post News)- Members of the Ikhatha Freedom Party (IFP) youth brigade, known as SADESMO, at the University of Zululand’s Richards Bay Campus had a busy day donating to students both on and off campus.
The distribution kicked off early in the in the morning until mid-day at the main gates of both UniZulu campuses.
While some students are in the middle of their exams, SADESMO stepped in with a promise to provide support to students, regardless of whether they were sitting for exams or not.
The programme was met with resounding success and gratitude from students as they received new pens, rulers, and pencils, which was a welcome relief for those who had been struggling with worn-out stationery. While others did not have stationery.
Simthandile Mzamba, a UniZulu student, said, “The stationery is going to be useful. Now I don’t have to worry about purchasing it with my meal allowance. It’s a huge weight off my shoulders during these exams.”
SADESMO leaders ensured that every student, whether on or off-campus, had access to the necessary stationery.
They even made arrangements to distribute stationery directly to student residences, ensuring that no one was left behind.
In a time of academic stress, SADESMO’s initiative served as a beacon of hope for students.
Their compassion and dedication to student welfare have not gone unnoticed, leaving a lasting impact on many students.
The purpose of the stationery distribution is to help students who are in need of new stationery to be able to write their exams, as some can hardly survive on their monthly NSFAS money.
The student alliance pleaded with the National IFP to support students with stationery because they believe in “education for liberation,” said the leader of SADESMO, Wandile Mbhele.
Mbhele said, “As we approach the end of the first semester, students are overwhelmed and stressed, and there are mixed emotions all over the place for the examination season, so they have to worry about buying basic stationary for their exams.”
SADESMO has promised to distribute it even to students who were not writing their exams.
