(The Post News)- The Israeli military launched thousands of leaflets over the territory on Wednesday, warning Palestinians in Gaza City to evacuate.
The city was the shelter for more than half a million Palestinians before the war began.
However, now they have to leave for the south due to the remaining dangerous combat zone around the city, as the heavy bombardment continues to dominate the region during the ceasefire talks.
Israel stated that the reason behind a revived offensive in Gaza was to search out Hamas fighters who were allegedly regrouping in parts of the Strip.
Israel’s war in Gaza has already affected most of the Strip’s 2.3 million residents, leaving them with nowhere safe to seek shelter or escape.
The heavy attack throughout Gaza in recent days, which has resulted in the killing of dozens of people, could be directed to put pressure on Hamas during ceasefire negotiations.
A meeting is currently underway with Israeli officials in Qatar for talks to push through a proposal.
The US, Egyptian, and Qatari mediators are also attending.
John Kirby, the White House national security spokesperson, said that the US was alert and optimistic that things are going in a nice direction and that there are still some gaps left between the two sides but they believe those gaps can be closed.
Maha Mahfouz, a mother of two, stated that she and five other relatives will seek shelter in the Jabaliya refugee camp, which is located in the north of Gaza City.
They are going to be seeking shelter in the north, as it is almost close to their former home.
Um Tamer, a mother of seven, argued that Gaza City is being destroyed completely and the Israeli military is forcing them to leave their home forcefully.
The main UN agency supporting Palestinians in Gaza has indicated that around 200,000 Palestinians are still in the north of the territory.
Israeli tanks escalated their incursion into some districts, adding Shejaia, Sabra, and Tel Al-Hawa to the list where residents reported the most fierce fighting the previous day at the beginning of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
On Tuesday, footage on social media circulated of the families packed onto donkey carts with their mattresses and other belongings in the backs of trucks racing through the city’s streets following the envisioned orders from Israel to flee areas.
