(The Post News)- President of the United States of America (USA) Joe Biden (81) has tested positive for COVID-19, hours after he declared that he would only think about withdrawing from the presidential race if a medical diagnosis hindered his running for president.
This is his third time contracting the virus, as in July 2022, Biden tested positive for COVID-19 for the first time. A few days later, he experienced another incident, termed a “rebound case.”
A US Sun Live Blogs reporter, Sophie Gable, stated in an article that Biden was meant to make an appearance at the annual UnidosUS in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Wednesday, and after he was late for an hour and a half, the organisation disclosed his diagnosis.
In the article, Gable reported that in Biden’s place, Janet Murguia, CEO of UnidosUS, ascended the stage and announced that the president would no longer be delivering a speech since he had been diagnosed with COVID-19.
Murguia informed the crowd that she and Biden spoke on the phone, and he expressed how disappointed he was to be unable to join them.
Biden has attended a lot of events, and they are grateful that he wished to be present at theirs.
Following the announcement of his being diagnosed with COVID-19, Biden posted a message on his personal X account that read, “I’m sick.”
In an extended statement on his official presidential account, Biden stated that on Wednesday afternoon he tested positive for COVID-19, but he is “feeling good” and he appreciates every individual’s kind sentiment.
Within the post, Biden also wrote: “I will be isolating as I recover, and during this time I will continue to work to get the job done for the American people.”
Furthermore, the White House released a statement that provided more details regarding Biden’s diagnosis and course of treatment.
In the statement, the White House mentioned that “Earlier today, following his first event in Las Vegas, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19.”
Biden has received a booster shot and immunisations, and his symptoms are minimal.
According to the White House, Biden is going to return to Delaware, where he will continue to properly do all his duties while he isolates himself, and the White House will keep the public informed regularly about Biden’s condition.
A note from Biden’s doctor was attached to the statement from the White House, explaining that on Wednesday afternoon, Biden had symptoms related to the upper respiratory system, such as a runny nose, cough, and mucus.
Biden had attended an event earlier on Wednesday, where he was seen engaging his supporters. Following this event, Biden’s doctor stated that while he felt fine earlier in the day, the symptoms persisted, and it was recommended that he get tested for COVID-19.
The doctor’s note further stated that Biden will continue to isolate himself under the supervision of the CDC.
In the note, Biden’s doctor also confirmed that both Biden’s temperature and respiration are still normal, and he has had a dosage of Paxlovid, a common drug prescribed to treat mild to moderate COVID-19 symptoms.
“I feel well,” Biden told the media, flashing a thumbs-up, as he boarded Air Force One to make his way to his Delaware residence.
