(The Post News)- In what appears to be an assassination attempt, a lawyer for South African Revenue Services (SARs) was shot three times in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Thursday afternoon.
Coreth Naude was at her hotel parking in Durban, not so far from the Gateway shopping centre.
When the incident transpired, two gunmen shot Naude approximately three times.
When Naudé was shot, it was thought that she was representing Sars in a tax investigation of contentious businesswoman Shauwn Mkhize, her firm, the Royal AM Football Club, and other organisations.
Before this incident, SARS Commissioner Edward Kieswetter mentioned that the goal of this horrifying crime is to scare court officers into giving up the essential job they’re doing to advance the judicial system in our nation. It erodes the legitimacy of the state.
To improve our nation and make sure that no one is above the law, we must all work together to oppose and reject acts like these and those who do them.
SARS demands that our law enforcement forces move quickly to find and apprehend those who attempted to kill Advocate Naudé.
Sars sends best wishes to Advocate Naudé’s family and a swift recovery.
“Such criminal and cowardly behaviour will not scare us,” Kieswetter declared.
The statement made by the police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, for this incident, stated that “two men approached the woman’s car as she was stopping at the boom gate and started shooting.
“The woman made it to safety in her car and was taken to the hospital after suffering gunshot wounds.” It has been discovered that the registration plates of the silver or grey Toyota Corolla that the suspects drove away with were cloned.”.
