Orlando Pirates unveils new jersey for 2024/25 season, away and home kit.
(The Post News)- Orlando Pirates Football Club has officially unveiled their home and away jerseys for the 2024–25 season. The announcement was made yesterday on the club’s official Facebook page, “Orlando Pirates Football Club.”
The jerseys, designed by Adidas and featuring the Vodacom logo, honour James “Sofa Sonke” Mpanza, a legendary figure in the club’s history.
Mpanza is one of many who formed the club in the 1930s, specifically in 1937.
Pirates taking it to its website page, Thandi Merafe, Media and PR Manager, said, “James Mpanza’s legacy is woven into the very fabric of our club.
“His dedication to improving the lives of those around him and his pioneering spirit in founding the Orlando Pirates are a testament to his character and vision. We are honoured to celebrate his life and continue his mission of fostering unity and striving for excellence.
The home jersey symbolises the culture of the club, with the black, white, and red colours. However, the away jersey shows diversity with a green tone.
Merafe further stated that as they celebrate their achievements and look towards the future, they remain deeply grateful to the founders for their invaluable contributions.
Their legacy inspires the club to strive for excellence both on and off the pitch, ensuring that the Orlando Pirates’ tradition of greatness endures for generations to come.
The newly launched jersey for the 2024–25 season was available online on July 22 and will be available in retail stores starting Thursday, July 25.
Technical teams and players are overseas preparing for the upcoming season. They will debut the new jersey on August 3, 2024.
Their last friendly match resulted in a 3-1 loss to Al-Sadd SC on July 19.
The club fans showed great honour to the home jersey, with fans commenting with encouraging messages for the new kit.
Menzi Nkhabanhle commented, “This jersey is something else.”.
“This home jersey will suit Sirino,” commented Bahlangene Majola.
Vulenda Goma Pirates’ comment was, “As long as it’s black in color, It’s fine by me, not that lemon twist.”
All clubs are gearing up to launch their kits for the 24/25 season, while the Premier Soccer League awaits the announcement of a new official sponsor following DStv’s withdrawal.
