Laughter and lunacy ensue as Mpho Popps shines a light on the absurd luxuries within South Africa’s prison walls, leaving us wondering: who’s really being punished here.
(The Post News)- Mpho Popps, an actor, MC, and award-winning stand-up comedian from South Africa, made fun of the shortcomings of the South African Correctional Services Department on social media.
On Thursday, July 26, he posted it on Facebook. Mpho wrote that South African prisons are nice, until Lord Pieter Groenewald finds out.
The video depicted a scenario in which taxpayers’ benefits are enjoyed by inmates. The Commissioner of Correctional Services has bestowed some rights upon prisoners, which are referred to as privileges.
The video had him sending message to all of the haters, what fate has in store for us? This place has wi-fi. The comedian in the video stated that they have free education, free food, free electricity, no more prepaid, cake for my birthday, and a cellphone.
The video comes after the Department of Correctional Services and the South African Police Service attack the Sun City prison. Among the items found during the raid were PlayStations, televisions, and other high-end electronics.
Different feelings were expressed by South African Network Citizens on the comedian’s post. Nozuko Nozi commented that the only country in the entire world that she recognize is South Africa.
