(The Post News)- As part of the tradition of England football, the Community Shield Cup is a curtain-raiser. Wembley Stadium had this local rival to lay their mark ahead of the 2024/25 season.
The weekend of August 5th marked an opening for European football. Where Manchester United and Manchester City opened 2025/25 season with the Community Shield Cup.
The two clubs are the most favored around the world. They both compete in the English Premiership League, all hailing from Manchester, England.
Their clash is one of the most important games as it is a derby. Goals, attitude, and bittersweet emotions were expected. The game went to halftime with a 0-0 tie. The second half saw the two clubs score and take it to a full-time 1-1. A penalty shootout saw the citizens joyful to a set and death come victorious.
The Citizens victory saw Manchester United fans vacate the stadium, leaving Manchester City’s fans to celebrate the 7-6 triumph. City fans hung for a trophy lift. Both clubs have a tie with fouls; City had two corners and United had two. The begging of victory and football campaign starts with Manchester City bagging the Community Shield Cup. The FA Cup winners (Manchester United) counted nothing when the English Premiership League winners had the Community Shield Cup as one ahead of the start of the season.
