(The Post News)- Stephen Chamberlain, a former vice president of finance at Autonomy, has lost his life in a car accident while jogging. The 52-year-old’s passing comes just two days before Mike Lynch, his former colleague, went missing along with others in a superyacht capsizing incident off the coast of Sicily.
Chamberlain’s life was marked by a high-profile fraud trial in the United States, where he and Lynch were accused of conspiring to boost Autonomy’s value before its $11 billion sale to Hewlett-Packard in 2011. However, a San Francisco jury found them not guilty of all 15 charges in June.
Beyond his professional life, Chamberlain was a devoted volunteer and finance director for Cambridge United, a League One football team. He also worked as the chief operating officer for cybersecurity startup Darktrace after leaving Autonomy in 2012.
His lawyer, Gary Lincenberg, remembered Chamberlain as a brave man with remarkable integrity, whose legacy lives on through his valiant battle to clear his name. As the news of his passing spreads, the Cambridgeshire police have issued a call for witnesses in the wake of the crash on Newmarket Road near Stretham village.
The timing of Chamberlain’s accident and Lynch’s disappearance has raised questions about the twists of fate that have beset these two individuals. Was Chamberlain’s life cut short by a cruel twist of fate, or was it simply a tragic accident? As the investigation unfolds, one thing is certain – a life of promise and potential has been lost far too soon.
