Floyd Shivambu has been appointed national organiser of the Umkhoto Wesizwe (MK) party.
(The Post News)- Former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) deputy leader Floyd Shivambu has been appointed national organiser of the newly formed MK party. The announcement was made during a press conference on Thursday, August 22, where the party introduced its leadership team, comprising eight prominent politicians and 22 additional members of the national high command.
The event was attended by former president Jacob Zuma, signalling strong support for the new party’s leadership. Shivambu’s appointment marks a significant shift in his political career, as he leaves behind his role as EFF deputy leader to join forces with the MK Party.
Shivambu, who founded the EFF alongside Julius Malema, will now lead MK with powers similar to those of a party secretary-general. His responsibilities will include organising the MK party, developing organisational documents and policies, conducting civic education, and monitoring and evaluating governance.
The MK Party’s high-command leadership team boasts an impressive lineup, including President Jacob Zuma, Deputy President Dr. John Hlophe, and Secretary-General Dr. Sifiso Maseko. Shivambu’s appointment is a testament to his commitment to progressive politics and his desire to make a meaningful impact.
During the media briefing, Shivambu emphasized the need to unite all progressive forces into a common agenda, stating that small, unviable political parties are not sustainable for the future of black people in South Africa. He urged leaders to set aside their egos and work towards a collective goal.
Shivambu’s new role will also involve representing MK at the South African Electoral Commission and setting up structures and leagues. His leadership expertise and experience will be invaluable in driving the MK Party forward.
The MK Party’s leadership team is committed to bringing about meaningful change in South Africa. With Shivambu at the helm as national organiser, the party is poised to make a significant impact in the country’s political landscape.
As the MK Party continues to grow and gain momentum, Shivambu’s appointment is a clear indication of the party’s commitment to unity and progress. His leadership will be instrumental in shaping the party’s future and driving its mission forward.
In this new era of South African politics, the MK Party is emerging as a force to be reckoned with. With Shivambu’s expertise and the party’s commitment to progress, the future looks bright for the MK Party and its supporters.
