(The Post News)- Egypt’s diplomatic attempts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza intensified as Egyptian and Danish officials met in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, to discuss prevention of further escalation of violence in the Middle East. The country stresses the need for peace along with trades of Palestinian detainees and Israeli hostages.
Bar Abdelaty, an Egyptian Foreign Minister, stated that the country will proceed to make every potential attempt to achieve an ending to the ongoing war. The move comes during escalating violence between Palestinian militants and Israeli forces, which always results in significant loss of life and displacement of families in the strip. Egypt, a country that shares a border with Gaza, has played a role in mediating conflicts in the region for a long period of time.
‘’We will not stop, and we will not give up until there is a ceasefire and an end to the aggression against our people in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem,” expressed Abdelaty. Egypt is praised by Lars Lokke Rasmussen, Denmark’s Foreign Minister, for its constant efforts to secure a lasting truce, which is important in preventing more violence. Rasmussen will visit the Rafah crossing on Tuesday, September 10.
According to Abdelaty, there will be no resolution in the region without ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories, with an emphasis on establishing a state. “The two-state solution remains the visible solution to the issue between Palestine and Israel, and this is important as we seek a solution as quickly as possible,” said Rasmussen.
