(The Post News)- A status report on the highly sought-after Polokwane City FC winger Oswin Appollis has been released by Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. Appollis has been playing brilliantly for his country and club.
In Bafana Bafana’s most recent 3-2 victory over South Sudan, he scored twice, and in their 2-2 tie with Uganda, he was named Man of the Match. The two games were part of the AFCON qualifiers for 2025. With seven goals in all competitions the previous season, the quick attacker piqued the curiosity of African and local clubs.
Nevertheless, with the Algerian transfer window officially closed, it appears that a move to North Africa is on hold. The 23-year-old standout was a target for MC Alger, but they were unable to finalize the transaction.
It’s interesting to note that Amakhosi has addressed the left flank position explicitly. They were unsuccessful in their attempts to sign Cape Town Spurs winger Asanele Velebayi.
Motaung Jr. said that they were targeting the former Pretoria Callies star in an interview with Robert Marawa on 947. About Appollis, all I can say is that I’m not aware of a single club in the nation that wouldn’t want to sign him. He’s a great talent, and we’re working really hard to get other great players to the team.
Additionally, Motaung Jr. disclosed that the club and Johnny Mogaladi, the chairman of Polokwane City FC, have been in discussions regarding a possible move. We’ve spoken with Polokwane City’s chairman about other players in addition to Oswin, and we’d love to have him. It’s a continuous process. Despite his reluctance to go into detail about the discussions, Motaung Jr. acknowledged Appollis’ talent and the club’s desire to sign him.
The way that Appollis has been playing for Bafana in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers has only increased his value and drawn interest from elite clubs. Although there will be fierce competition for his signature, Motaung Jr.’s remarks indicate that the Chiefs are committed to bringing him to Naturena.
