(The Post News)- Longwe Twala spends more days in police custody as the theft case against him has again been rescheduled to Monday of the upcoming week due to his attorney being absent from court on Thursday, September 12.
Chicco Twala, a legendary musician, filed a robbery and theft case against his sons, Longwe and Sello Twala, a week ago at the Douglasdale police station, and both were apprehended.
According to Chicco, his sons allegedly stole studio equipment amounting to R200 000 from his house in Fourways, Johannesburg, while he was away.
Chicco confirmed his sons’ arrest during an exclusive interview with the Full View on South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) news. He indicated that the theft occurred while he was in the United States of America and reiterated that he has video footage as evidence, and his helper witnessed one of his sons carrying boxes and fleeing from the house.
Furthermore, Chicco also revealed that his son Longwe has been struggling with drug abuse for some years. The state notified the court that there was inadequate evidence against Sello, thus the National Prosecuting Authority dismissed his case.
Meanwhile, Longwe remained in detention and appeared in Randburg Magistrate’s Court a week ago, where his bail application was postponed until Thursday, September 12, due to his previous conviction for shoplifting, as well as allow investigators to verify his residential address and legal aid.
On Thursday, Magistrate Abdul Khan adjourned the hearing till Monday for an official bail application since Longwe’s legal counsel was not present, and he is to remain in detention until his next court appearance.
