The Department of Home Affairs and Thabo Mofutsanyana district municipality in the Free State will, on Monday, 16 September 2024, embark on a high-impact outreach programme in the district.
The programme is intended to run from today until 20 September 2024 in the identified towns such as Paul Roux, Rosendal, Senekal, Marquard, Arlington, Lindley, Reitz, and Petrustyn. The community members are called upon and encouraged to be part of the programme.
Home affairs will be conducting services such as applications for birth certificates, first applications for smart cards, Identity documents, smart card collections, passport applications, and others.
In an exclusive interview with The Post News this morning, Thabo Mokoena, council Speaker of the district municipality said: “We have noticed the challenges that our communities come across, especially those who stay in the farms. Hence we decided to bring services closer to them.”
Mokoena further says when meeting with the Home Affairs officials earlier, the talks went smoothly and what is remaining now is to implement the plans, nothing else.
He asked the communities to respond in numbers to grab this massive opportunity with two hands “The programme is aimed at bringing the basket of services to our communities. Therefore, they must use this rare opportunity to the best of their advantage,” Mokoena elaborates.
A farm dweller, Godfrey Mokhele, says one of his relatives has struggled to apply for an ID for quite a long time. He believes the outreach programme will bring beautiful crops even to others who also have the same problems.
The programme will not stop here but will continue stretching to the other towns according to the scheduled dates.
