(The Post News)- The Congress of South African Students organized a march in Hammanskraal Stinkwater, gathering learners from various schools, parents, and community members. They demanded justice and immediate action from law enforcement regarding the murder of Koketso Manganyi, a grade 12 learner from Modilate Secondary School.
Koketso Manyanyi was stabbed to death by an unknown suspect. The perpetrator remains at large, sparking fear and outrage within the community. “The community also fears that the killer might strike again and kill another learner,” said a community member. “He needs to be arrested and persecuted so that our kids can be free.”
Ward Councilor Willy Kgopa emphasized the students’ concerns, saying, “The kids are concerned about what happened to one of their own. They want justice, and it’s their right to demand it.”
Basetsana Mahlangu, Tshwane Regional Coordinator of COSAS, issued an ultimatum to the police. “We are giving the police 14 days to find the killer and put him behind bars. We demand positive feedback. If they don’t comply, we will march to the police station and cause havoc.”
Matome Mahlase, representing the Gauteng Department of Education, reassured the community of the department’s support. “We are here to support the learners and the community. The learners are our priority, and we love them. What happened must come to an end, and we will ensure it.”
The march brought together learners from Modilate Secondary School, Tipfuxeni Secondary School, Ntswane Secondary, and Bokamoso Secondary School, demonstrating solidarity and determination to seek justice for Koketso’s family and ensure the safety of learners in Hammanskraal Stinkwater.
