(The Post News)- The South African Broadcasting Commission have agreed with Supersport regarding the sub-licensing of Premier Soccer League on a statement realised, Monday.
Supersport has the right to all PSL games. The MTN-8, Nedbank Cup, Carling Black Label Cup, and the first division, Betway Premiership League.
Broadcasting rights allow the SABC to broadcast 51 games. 23 Betway Premiership, 12 Nedbank Cup, 10 Black Label South Africa Cup, and six for promotion playoffs.
Network Citizens have mixed feelings for the agreement reached. They bash the agreement for 51 games out of approximately 300 games.
This agreement comes after the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie intervened during rugby pre-season. He promised to take Supersport head on and demanded for national matches to be aired on free to air channels.
Tebogo Koma on Mazola J. Molefe’s X post comment that It is sad that a national broadcaster, SABC has to beg a dying private company, Multichoice for rights to broadcast sports to its citizens.
Tummy Dimingy commented that South Africans mush give credit where it’s due. Mckenzie’s influence, he promised and delivering one project at a time.
“It just shows what kind of a leader he is. He just wants people to work together. It’s that simple, we must thank Supersport truly so.Next”! Highlighted Dimingy
Shonisani retaliated to Dimingy asking “Delivered what? Stop settling for a bare minimum. 23 league games is not even half of league games. Way too little to celebrate.”
Poor South Africans have been left with no juicy games for live broadcast on SABC. Tight fixtures could be aired on Supersport, while a cold match playing on SABC.
Sinethemba Ndum-Ndum mentioned Gayton stressing that football is the only sport that most black people love at heart but can’t afford to watch it.
