Dihlabeng municipality is requesting the residents to use water sparingly during this drying period.Â
(The Post News)- Bohlokong, Paul Roux, and Rosendal residents in the Dihlabeng local municipality in the Free State, will, on Thursday, 19 September 2024, experience water interruption due to the renovation that is expected to take place.
Saulspoort Water Treatment Works will be shut down to allow the contractor to install the new components in one section of the treatment works. This will result in the water treatment works operating at 50% capacity.
“It is anticipated the installation will be completed before 6:00 p.m. Water will be closed at 9:00 in the morning and opened at 6:00 p.m,” this is according to Tshediso Maitse, marketing and communications manager of the municipality.
The municipality is urging the community not to use sprinklers, hosepipes, fill-up swimming pools and others.
Meanwhile, the residents have also notified the Lesotho Highlanders tunnel, which transports water from Lesotho to South Africa, will be closed on Monday, 15 October 2024. The closure of the tunnel will follow the maintenance process that will take the whole six months.
However, there will be no water supply interruption during that period unless water supply restrictions can be implemented.
