(The Post News)- Road users in the Eastern Cape are warned to drive with caution as snowfall which may lead to several road closures is expected.
Makhaya Komisa MEC for Transport says a level six orange warning has been issued by the weather office with disruptive snow expected on Thursday morning to Friday over areas like Emalahleni, Sakhisizwe, eLundini and Matatiele, having the possibility to mountain pass closures in these areas.
Khomisa urges all road users, especially the motorists to be extra careful when driving over these areas as they expect dangerous driving conditions in the coming two days.
The emergency personnel will be activated to assist on the roads, working with disaster teams.
The South African Weather Service issued the weather outlook for Friday and Saturday. The outlook shows a cloudy, wet and very cold over the central and eastern areas, with snow over the high lying grounds of the Eastern Cape and KZN.
