(The Post News)- South African entertainment industry is mourning another loss of a renowned actor, musician, director and a philanthropic Timmy ‘Ngqungqumbana’ Kwebulana after a recent passing of Sello Motloung on the September 15. Timmy passed away on September 19, after a short illness at age 83 according to the statement shared by his family.
With his illustrious career for almost six decades, Kwebulana left an indelible mark on the industry. His family expressed gratitude for his life and contributions, thankful for his work in the entertainment industry.
Timmy’s acting prowess was showcased in various popular television series and films, including “City lights,” “Abakwazidenge,” “Unyana Wontu,” “Uthando Lwethu,” “Shooting Stars,” “Forced Love,” and “Isikizi.” His breakthrough notable role in “City Lights” earned him critical acclaim and a massive following and a role as Bra Vic Tau in “Shooting Stars” played from 2007-2010 and appearance in “Fishy Feshuns,’’ “Mazinyo Dot Q,” and “Chandies,” his versatility and captivating performances endeared him to audiences.
Timmy was also a talented singer-songwriter, and he has received numerous awards and nominations, and apart from being an artist Timmy was actively involved in Philanthropy and advocacy work. He used his platform to raise awareness and support various causes, such as education and children’s rights.
He accomplished a lot as a singer and musician. Timmy’s melodic voice and soulful performances have captured audiences in various music festivals and concerts. His album titled “Rhythm of My Heart,” was an utmost commercial success, with its blend of pop, R&B and Afrobeat influences.
For some time, Timmy was away from small screens and was set to make a return on the movie, Homecoming, alongside long-term friend and renowned actress Thoko Ntshinga, but unfortunately before the movie’s premiere was preceded, his family has confirmed his passing.
Timmy’s good deeds to making a positive impact on society has earned him admiration and a respected figure from both fans and industry professionals. A celebrity Phila Mandlingozi has paid tribute to Kwebulana’s legacy, describing him as a true legend. The Kwebulana family has requested time to gather and organise logistics for his memorial and funeral services, acknowledging the outpouring of support.
According to his family, Kwebulana’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations. They hope that his contributions to the arts and entertainment industry will be remembered and celebrated.
