(The Post News)- For the MTN 8 trophy, Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC will square off. The teams play football with a great sense of spirit. Fans, technical personnel, and football enthusiasts anticipate history being written at Moses Mabhida Stadium on October 5th.
Training has started for the two clubs in Mpumalanga. Later on in the week, Pirates coach Jose Riveiro said that he was unsure about Monnapuleng Saleng and Olisa Ndah’s availability.
Stellies prevailed 3-2 in the last meet-up game between Cape Winelands and Bucanners with Stellies’ a late comeback. Accordiing the club meeting analysis, Stellenbosch has won the majority of its matches with the Buccanners. In 2023 Pirates won twice and Stellies three times for five matches.
This is Stellenbosch’s first-ever MTN 8 championship appearance. Additionally, Pirates, who previously held the record for winning the MTN 8 consecutively, are defending the championship for the third time in a row.
Both clubs are shown in photos making last-minute arrangements. They have been welcomed by MTN South Africa for tomorrow’s match in Mpumalanga.
The Stellenbosch coach, Steve Barker, informed the media in a post-match interview that his team have bravery and lofty goals to win the match. The Spaniard stressed that his players shouldn’t let up and said that he is also hoping for positive outcomes.
“Nobody, I believe, is going to the field on Saturday with the impression that the work is finished before we begin running there. We’ll be running a lot,” said the Spaniard.
