Women For Change launches petition against Chris Brown For performing in SA.
(The Post News)- On Wednesday evening, the women for change organization took it to their social media platforms to post a post stating that “No Stage for Chris Brown In South Africa”, due to his GBV history.
Women for change is a non-profit organization that advocates for the constitutional rights of women and children in South Africa.
Chris Brown is well known for his documented history of violence towards a lot of women, it was mentioned that in 2009, he was convicted of brutally assaulting his then girlfriend, Rihanna one of the most famous America singer this was a case that sparked global outrage.
That didn’t stop him, he continued with multiple accusations of violence against other women. This concert is scheduled just days after the global commemoration of the 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, this made this event a direct insult to the millions of women and girls affected by violence in South Africa and worldwide.
“South Africa is during a GBV crisis, where femicide rates are five times higher than the global average. Many women and children live in constant fear, and the scars of violence run deep.” Said women for change on the press release.
The organization released a petition for all South Africans to sign stating that “sign the petition and don’t give abusers a stage”. Also demanding that home affairs revoke Chris Brown’s visa and prevent him from performing in South Africa.
