A South African-born FIFA referee, Abongile Tom, controlled the MTN8 final between the Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch FC. The match kicked off at six o’clock in the evening today.
Tom has demonstrated his superiority as a referee throughout his continental career, making him one of the best in South Africa. The most of this season, the Cape Town-born official has been away from the nation officiating FIFA World Cup, Africa Cup of Nations, and CAF Champions League qualifications.
He recently officiated a CAF Super Cup match in Saudi Arabia between Zamalek SC and Al Ahly SC as a video assistant.
According to information obtained, Tom will oversaw the Moses Mabhida Stadium final. Elphas Sithole, Happy Nhlanhla, and Xola Sitela supported him.Â
Tom last officiated a local match when the Pirates defeated SuperSport United 3-1 in the MTN8 quarterfinals at the start of the season.
