(The Post News)- An alleged drug mule who was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Sunday, October 7, has been taken to the hospital after experiencing health complications. The 43-year-old alleged drug mule is a citizen of Paraguay and was traveling from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk, the national police spokesperson, the South African Police Services (SAPS), in coordination with SARS officials, apprehended a Paraguayan. Van Wyk stated that a medical examination proved that the suspect had swallowed various foreign objects and had also released over 20 bullets believed to contain cocaine.
On Monday, the deputy national commissioner in charge of policing, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, claimed that the suspect passed roughly 117 drug bullets, each weighing about 10 grams. He added that it is a massive lot for an individual to ingest, and every bullet that exited the stomach contained traces of blood, indicating that there is a medical issue.
Mosikili added that the suspect had to cease the process of passing the bullets from the stomach and was transported to the hospital due to health concerns. Mosikili also warned against swallowing bullets, stating that it is dangerous because the “bullet might rapture in the body,” and the bullets could explode, causing the person to die instantly.
