Eintrancht Frankfurt’s unbeaten run continues: Bundesliga shared Facebook image
(The Post News)- Omar Marmoush, an Egyptian striker, scored a brace on Sunday, including an equalizing goal in injury time, to secure a 3-3 draw for Eintracht Frankfurt and deprive Buyern Munich a two-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga.
With the Red Bull team winning 1-0 at Heidenheim earlier on Sunday, Bayern went into the international break ahead of RB Leipzig only on goal difference thanks to Marmoush’s goal, which set off chaotic scenes in Frankfurt. Bayern was about to seal a 3-2 victory when the 25-year-old marshaled clear in the fourth of six added minutes, punishing careless Bayern defense to settle a thrilling six-goal match.
Frankfurt has extended their unbeaten streak to seven games across all competitions under head coach Dino Toppmoeller. With 13 points today, they are just one point behind the joint leaders.
Thomas Mueller had excellent awareness to bounce the ball back to the Korean defender from a corner, allowing the defender to shoot into the roof of the net, setting up Bayern’s first goal through center defender Min-Jae Kim. Even though it was only Kim’s second goal as a Bayern player, Frankfurt’s first significant attack of the match, which came on the counterattack and went entirely against the flow of play, proved to be too much for Bayern to handle.
After slipping the ball between Alexander Pavlovic’s legs and arriving at Marsh, Ansgar Knauff managed to escape Joshua Kimmich’s pursuit. With his second touch, he shot the ball past Manuel Neuer. After thirteen minutes, Frankfurt had turned the tide of the match, taking a 2-1 lead. After leading another breakaway and identifying Hugo Ekitike, Marmoush took on a more provider role.
The Frenchman completed the task with a clinical finish. With eight goals in six games this season, Marmoush is three goals ahead of Harry Kane of Bayern Munich as the highest scorer in the Bundesliga.
