(The Post News)- The family of Nhlamulo ‘Nota’ Baloyi is relieved after he was granted bail of R5,000 in connection with rape charges filed by actress Itumeleng Bokaba at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
Nota is a South African music executive, entrepreneur, and social media personality. He gained prominence as the former manager of rapper Kwesta and founder of record label Mabala Noise.
The actress Itumeleng Bokaba addressed allegations of rape against Nota Baloyi last month, following claims he was responsible for her minimal payment (59 cents) for work on Kwesta’s ‘Mayibabo’. The controversy gained traction after Sunday World’s expose.
His father, Deben Baloyi, was so overwhelmed when he heard the news that his son was granted bail; it was a time where he stated at an interview with TshisaLive that he could not wait for his son to be proven innocent. He also expressed relief over his son’s bail, criticizing the accuser as dishonest. He welcomed the investigation into WhatsApp text messages, optimistic it would uncover the truth.
Nota’s family has shown unwavering support throughout his legal challenges. His father accompanied him to the Randburg police station when he surrendered, and his wife visited him in custody, and they also attended his first court appearance. Moreover, his father added that his family came to visit him every day, and it was very uncomfortable for him to have them visit him through a glass barrier.
Nota will again appear in court on November 7 for the final bail hearing, where he will finally prove his innocence.
