(The Post News)- Pep Guardiola of Manchester City leaves the door open for a future position with England. Roy Keane has urged the FA to take the Manchester City manager into consideration for a possible position, while Pep Guardiola has hinted that anything can happen with his future.
Since taking over at the Etihad Stadium in 2016, Guardiola has won six Premier League titles and the Champions League. His contract expires at the end of the current season.
The 53-year-old recently emphasized how deep he loves the team and hasn’t ruled out signing an extension, but he hasn’t made up his mind yet because he has been linked to taking over as permanent England manager in place of Gareth Southgate.
“Leaving City?” When asked about his future on the Italian TV show Che tempo Che Fa, Guardiola responded, “I haven’t made a decision yet, so it’s not true,” according to Sky Italia.
“The claim that I will be the next England coach is untrue. I don’t know either, anything can happen,” said Guardiola.
Keane, an ITV analyst, thinks England should wait to see if Guardiola is a good fit. “The FA have to go for the best guy, go for the excellent. Pep’s deal expires in the summer, ” former Manchester United captain Keane remarked following interim manager Lee Carsley’s 3-1 Nations League victory over Finland in Helsinki.
