Msizi Njapha bids farewell to Umkhokha: The Curse, amidst rumors of behavioral issues and dismissal.
(The Post News)- Msizi Njapha has bid farewell to the popular DStv series, Umkhokha: The Curse. The actor and musician from Mbumbulu, south of Durban, played the lead role of Khulekani Mthembu.
Msizi confirmed his departure to Daily Sun, dismissing rumors that he was fired. However, according to ZiMoja, Msizi, Angel Zuma (Nomkhosi), and Kwanele Mthethwa (Nobuntu) were allegedly let go due to behavioral issues and difficult conduct during filming. Specifically, Msizi’s consistent tardiness and alleged intoxication on set led to delays.
Msizi clarified his exit, stating, “I wasn’t fired, nor did I leave. My character’s arc was complete, and Umkhokha’s storyline necessitates death.” Portia Hlongwane, the show’s spokesperson, corroborated this, saying, “Msizi’s character was done for season two. So, no one has been fired from the show.”
Msizi assured fans that he won’t be off-screen for long, hinting at a new project. “Unfortunately, I cannot divulge much for now, except that I will be making a huge comeback in the next few weeks. I will also be working on my music.”
Meanwhile, Umkhokha welcomes back Mbuso Khoza as Maphalala, following two previous departures. Mbuso vowed not to leave again, citing fan demand and appreciation. Langalakhe Zwane briefly replaced Mbuso as Maphalala in season two, but Mbuso has reclaimed his role.
In an earlier departure, Mbuso left the show in February, leaving fans fuming and eager for his return.
