According to Ali Sablay, operations manager of the foundation, the situation is dire. “We are inundated with pleas for humanitarian aid as the floods continue to wreak havoc. Residents are being ferried to makeshift shelters in school halls and churches, seeking refuge from the raging waters.”
The usually resilient community of KwaNobuhle has been particularly hard hit, with its water treatment plant overwhelmed by the floods, leaving residents without access to potable water. “The local disaster management teams are working tirelessly to identify and evacuate stranded residents, and our teams are collaborating closely with them to provide essential assistance,” Sablay explained.
