(The Post News)- The Buccaneers defeated SuperSport United 2-0 in a Betway Premiership match at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday, swiftly recovering from their shocking Carling Knockout first-round loss to Magesi FC over the weekend.
Riveiro, who remained composed after Saturday’s loss, offered insight into how they managed to bounce back from the disappointment of a cup departure and provide a strong performance just three days later. Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro emphasized that their team has a clear policy against exaggerating errors and losses; he maintains there is no magic recipe for winning. “It’s ultimately up to you when you play games like the one we played against Magesi a few days ago,” Riveiro stated.
“If you want to stay in that game forever, you can dramatize for one, two, or three weeks, but you won’t make it in the following one. Alternatively, you can swiftly assess what transpired, be truthful with yourself, and recognize the areas in which we as a team made mistakes that we cannot accept. That’s what we did—not dramatizing and getting on with our lives as fast as possible.”
Additionally, he elaborated that they have a group of winners, and when they don’t get the win, they don’t feel good, and that’s also their fuel to go to the next one, maybe with 10-20 percent more hunger than usual.
The Spaniard once again emphasized the team’s work ethic in order to enable the victory, which saw the Pirates preserve their undefeated league start as they also swept to the top of the log standings. According to Riveiro, anticipating four wins in a row makes no difference, as their focus is mostly on striving for the win and then anticipating it.
He further commended the club for their performance both at the league thus far and last night, emphasizing how well their defense is playing. Orlando Pirates will face Amazulu FC for their next game of the league, and Raveiro said they hope to record their fifth consecutive win.
