(The Post News)- Two women have been reported missing following an alleged farm attack that took place on Caymen Road in Eikenhof, near the Eye of Africa estate, not far from Sandton.
In a statement, Mike Bolhuis from Specialised Security Services stated that the culprits are suspected to have gained entry by cutting through the fence and breaking the security gate at the house between 10 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2024, and Saturday morning. According to Bolhuis’s statement, after gaining entry inside the house, the suspects ransacked and stole two cars.
Bolhuis added that inside the house were Hester (52) and Cecilia Johanna Flemming (82). Both women are reported to be 1.6 meters tall and very slim. It is alleged that the suspects kidnapped the two women and fled in two separate vehicles belonging to the family. One of the stolen vehicles was later recovered in Thokoza in the early hours of Saturday morning, October 26. The second vehicle, a metallic green Isuzu double-cab LDV, registration CB01WRGP, is still unaccounted for.
Bolhuis said no ransom demands or other communications have been made by the suspects or the victims to date. Numerous task teams have since begun searching for the missing women and vehicle. Moreover, Bolhuis said that the suspects are currently unknown and they have no leads to follow, but they are doing their best to find the missing women and those that took them. The community and anyone with information is urged to urgently come forward and assist in recovering the women and bringing them back to their families safe and healthy.
Although the number of such incidents fluctuates from year to year, a shocking number of attacks have been reported, and the Gauteng Province has been described as having a majority of farm attacks, while a significant number occurred in KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State, Mpumalanga, as well as the North West, Eastern, and Northern Provinces. No one has been spared from these dangerous actions. Both farm workers and farm owners have fallen victims to these brutal attacks.
