A Sekhukhune United player allegedly fled the scene of a fatal accident that killed a 9-year-old
(The Post News)- In a terrible event on Tembisa’s Andrew Mapheto Road, a 9-year-old child died in a collision with a vehicle owned by Sekhukhune United soccer player Shaune Mogaihaula from South Africa.Â
The mother was with her two children, aged between 9 and 13. While the mother and the 13-year-old survived with injuries, they were taken to a nearby hospital for further medical attention. According to reports, the accident happened on Wednesday at approximately 7:30 a.m. Police discovered suspected drugs and alcohol bottles in Mogaila’s vehicle when they arrived, according to Thabiso Makgato, a spokesman for the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department.
The victims were left behind when Mogaila, 29, allegedly ran away from the scene. The Tembisa South Police Station has opened a case of reckless driving, culpable homicide, and evading the scene of the collision. Public indignation over this terrible tragedy has led to demands for justice and accountability for the young girl’s premature death. There are still investigations going on.
