(The Post News)- Sead Ramovic, the head coach of TS Galaxy, resigned after his team’s Wednesday 1-1 tie with Stellenbosch at Athlone Stadium. Ramovic’s decision follows Galaxy’s draw in Cape Town, which was only their second point of the season, extending their winless record to six league games this season.
An excellent interplay from the Cape Winelands team resulted in Fawaaz Basadien scoring in the second minute, which put Stellies on the lead. Meanwhile, halfway through the first half, Sepana Letsoalo’s header struck the crossbar, giving the visitors a chance to tie the score. Ten minutes after halftime, the home team had a fantastic chance to double their lead, but Devin Titus’s shot struck the post from a tight angle.
However, Galaxy much improved in the second half and rightfully equalized in the 72nd minute when substitute Nkosikhona Radebe scored from close range after a set-piece had caused a scramble in the box.
Despite pressing for the game-winning goal in the closing moments, Stellenbosch made poor choices in the final third by attempting an extra pass rather than having shots on goal.
After seven games, the point puts Stellies in fourth place in the league standings, nine points behind the Orlando Pirates, who are currently leading the log.
Ramovic told the media after the game that he had decided to depart the team, which is at the bottom of the log and now in need of a new coach. After the FIFA international break, the Rockets have time before their next game on November 26 against Sekhukhune United.
