(The Post News)- The Spurs are now on fifth place after losing their perfect record, while the Turkish champions, with 10 points from four games, have almost guaranteed their spot in at least the knockout play-off round.
Yunus Akgun gave Galatasaray the lead in the sixth minute with a spectacular volley into the top corner. Twelve minutes later, the visitors responded when Will Lankshear, a young striker, scored a goal in just his second first-team appearance by tapping in Brennan Johnson’s cross goal.
However, Osimhen’s brace in eight minutes gave Galatasaray the lead before halftime. Shortly after the interval, the Nigerian player gave them the lead again before deftly volleying Dries Mertens’ cross past Fraser Forster, the Tottenham goalie.
Since coming to Galatasaray on loan from Napoli, Osimhen has now scored six goals in eight games. The home team missed multiple chances to keep their opponents out of the game, but Spurs’ dreams of a comeback were dashed when Lankshear was sent off for two consecutive yellow card infractions in the second half.
