(The Post News)- Social media became a buzz with the news of Donald Trump’s victory on November 6th, 2024
World leaders took to X and other social platforms to convey their congratulations as the Republican is set to take over the reigns as the 47th president of the United States.
High-profile allies of Trump and top figures who have a history of clashing with the 78 year old, have hailed the results as a decisive and historic victory for Trump.
The likes of Viktor Orban, Volodymyr Zelensky, and Emmanuel Macron took time to send good wishes to the newly elected president.
In a post from X , Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban declared it as ‘’the biggest comeback in United States political history’’.
Trump claimed victory in the contest after defeating Democrat candidate Kamala Harris, which stands as a strong political comeback four years after he left the White House.
Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, also shared his congratulations, saying that Trump’s ‘‘peace through strength’’ approach could bring peace closer to the ongoing war against Russia.
French president Emmanuel Macron said that he stands ‘’ready to work together” as they did for four years,with both their convictions, respect, and ambition for “more peace and prosperity.’’
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said that, Trump’s victory can most likely be viewed as bad news for Ukraine, in a post on his Telegram account, Medvedev said it remains unclear how far Trump would be able to cut the States finances for the war.
“Trump is a businessman to the core. He dislikes spending money on bad charity projects and voracious international organizations” , Dmitry wrote.
Meanwhile, Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared a message to Trump , tweeting on X , he wrote “Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback, this is a huge victory”.
Several other world leaders sent messages including NATO chief Mark Rutte, Egyptian president Abdel Fattah , Indian prime minister Giorgia Meloni, and German chancellor Olaf Scholz, amongst many.
However, a number of government world leaders have remained quiet, including Moscow, where President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman declared that Russia and US relations were at the “lowest point in history.”
