(The Post news)- Donald Trump, United States President, has appointed Elise Stefanik to serve as his ambassador to the United Nations.
Born and raised in New York, the congresswoman was the first member of her family to earn a college degree after graduating from Harvard University in 2006, soon after she ventured into politics, where she served as the White House domestic policy adviser under President George W. Bush.
Elise rose through the political ranks, finally becoming a senior advisor to Joshua Bolten, President Bush’s chief of staff. Stefanik, 40, who currently serves as House Republican Conference Chair, has long been a loyal supporter of President Trump and was among those discussed as a potential vice presidential.
In an official announcement on CBS News, Trump said it was his pleasure to nominate Chairwoman Elise Stefanik as a member of the new Cabinet, taking over the job of US ambassador to the United Nations. He added that Elis is an extremely strong, tough, and intelligent combatant. Her outstanding support during Trump’s felony accusations in 2019 made her a “star,” as Trump said himself at the time.
In 202, after Trump lost the elections to President Joe Biden, she objected the win and supported Trump’s accusations about the elections being rigged.
Most recently, Stefanik received praise from Republicans and Jewish leaders after she inquisitively stood face to face, grilling college presidents in a House hearing on their handling of campus proceedings over the Israel-Gaza war. Her questioning of the leaders focused on how to address hate speech against Jewish students on campus, which had resulted in the resignations of Harvard and University of Pennsylvania presidents.
Stefanik will succeed U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, a former assistant secretary of state for Africa who has held the position throughout Biden’s presidency and served in his Cabinet. Stefanik will also serve as a member of President Trump’s Cabinet.
