(The Post News)- President-elect Donald Trump launched a new initiative with the goal of saving America and improving government efficiency. On November 12, 2024, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy were appointed as the Department of Government Efficiency by President Donald Trump.
As part of his plan to take an “entrepreneurial approach” to government reform, President Trump considered tech CEO Elon Musk and biotech CEO Vivek Ramaswamy when appointing new officials because of their business backgrounds.
Trump has taken a bold step in his plan to “Save America” by cutting what he sees as unnecessary spending and burdensome regulations. The Department was created with the intention of modernizing the federal government’s bureaucracy, cutting spending, and improving transparency.

Former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers, an opponent of substantial federal budget cutbacks, warned at the Economic Club of New York that Elon Musk and Ramaswamy will encounter greater hurdles than expected in finding $200 billion in federal budget cuts due to a restricted scope for waste reduction.
Economic analysts caution that drastic cuts to federal spending could disrupt public services and have far-reaching economic effects.
