(The Post News)- Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has unveiled a revamped squad for Saturday’s test against England at Twickenham, introducing 12 changes to the team that beat Scotland last weekend.
Wilco Louw’s inclusion is a standout move, marking his first Springbok appearance in over three years. The tighthead prop, known for his scrummaging power, last played during a behind-closed-doors match against Argentina in Gqeberha. His return adds depth to an already formidable pack. Lock Eben Etzebeth, loosehead prop Ox Nche, and hooker Bongi Mbonambi are the only players to retain their spots in the starting lineup, underscoring Erasmus’s intent to rotate while maintaining core experience.
The squad sees a five-three split on the bench, prioritizing forward strength for what is expected to be a physically demanding clash. Erasmus has also leaned on familiarity, with 15 players from the squad that defeated England in last year’s World Cup semi-final included. This match carries added significance, with the Springboks looking to secure a strong end to their international season. England, still reeling from their World Cup disappointment, will aim to counter South Africa’s imposing physicality.
With Erasmus at the helm, known for his strategic maneuvers, all eyes will be on how this reworked team performs against a historically competitive rival.
