(The Post News)- President Donald Trump on Thursday appointed Robert Francis Kennedy Junior (70) as the new Secretary of Health and Human Services, signifying a fundamental shift in the administration’s approach to health policy, according to The Telegraph.
The newly appointed secretary of health and human services, Kennedy Jr., is known for his vocal opposition to industrial food systems and vaccinations. Kennedy is an environmental attorney and member of the famous Democratic Kennedy family. The Inquirer reported that Trump and Kennedy worked together throughout the 2024 presidential campaign, promising to tackle processed food among other priorities because they are a major contributor to the country’s obesity pandemic.
When President Trump announced Kennedy’s nomination, he expressed his desire for reform and stated that the industrial food complex and medicine firms had been causing considerable harm to Americans for a long time. In a recent interview with Joe, a podcaster, Kennedy questioned Trump’s diet, calling it unhealthy. He further referred to the food on Trump’s jet as “poison,” yet their alliance appears to be strong.
Meanwhile, in a report by CNN NYC, mayor De Blasio pointed out that giving full control of the public health system to Kennedy is dangerous because he is known for his anti-vaccine stance, and this move only puts citizens at risk. He warned that this could result in fatalities, particularly if the United States experiences another public health disaster, and that such a situation is 50-50. Before Kennedy takes on the role of Health and Human Services Secretary, the Senate still needs to confirm his appointment.
