(The Post News)- On Monday, 18 November 2024, President Cyril Ramaphosa is anticipated to deliver the country’s statement at the Group of Twenty (G20). The summit will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where different leaders will be representing their countries.

Among other significant elements of the statement, Ramaphosa will focus on combating hunger and poverty, as well as overhauling global governance structures. On this topic, Brazil, which is chairing the global platform gathering, is anticipated to hand over the presidency of the G20 to South Africa. Fighting poverty, energy transition, promotion of suitable development in its economic, social, and environmental aspects, and reform of the global governance institutions will be the key areas of the Brazil G20 summit.

However, social media users have mixed reactions to Ramaphosa, who just celebrated his 72nd birthday in Rio yesterday ahead of the G20 summit. Some believe Ramaphosa didn’t do enough to save the country from the hands of corrupt and incompetent ministers. Some think he must resign based on his age, while others say he is still young and focused. “He is still not that old, unlike the other one who formed another party,” sated Rod Chidz on Facebook.
