An investigation into the murder of AKA and his friend Tibz is still ongoing and the police are determined to find the mastermind or masterminds behind their deaths.
(The Post News)- As the investigation into the murder of Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane continues, more arrests are anticipated. The KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, stated that they want to arrest the masterminds behind the assassination of AKA. According to Mkhwanazi, bringing the murder case to court took some time; he believes that finding the masterminds will also take a while, but they will be found. “The puzzel is coming together very nicely,” he said.
Moreover, speaking about Siyabonga and Melusi Ndimande, normally referred to as the Ndimand brothers, who are awaiting extradition from Eswatini to South Africa, Mkhwanazi said he is not at liberty to discuss what is going on in a foreign country. However, he believes that the South African prosecution team will argue a strong case, as they were previously granted permission to extradict them before they filed an appeal.
On August 20, SA authorities were granted permission to extradite the Ndimande brothers, but the brothres appealed the court ruling within four hours. Mkhwanazi stated that if they had transferred them an hour after the extradition was approved, they would have been in SA, but they filed an appeal in four hours, which was insufficient time for SA authorities to use given that they were in another country and had to follow that nation’s legal procedures.
The Ndimande brothers are expected to appear before the Eswatini court today to appeal the traditional approval of August 20. Mkhwanaza said they are determined to ensure that the brothers are brought back to SA safely, and he does not see any reason the Eswatini court may decide to rule against the SA law enforcement as the Ndimande brothers are illegal in Eswatini and they ran away from justice in SA. Mkhwanazi also said that human rights representatives will be present to monitor the entire extradition proceedings and guarantee that their human rights are not violated in any way, as ordered by the court.
AKA, one of South Africa’s leading rappers, and his close friend, Tibz, a businessman and celebrity chef, were gunned down outside a restaurant on Florida Road in Durban on February 10, 2023. According to the police, hitmen were paid to assassinate AKA, while Tibz was caught in the crossfire.
